Nigel Farage’s party, Reform UK, has been cautioned by Keir Starmer for aiming to sow discord in communities. Starmer, addressing his top ministers, emphasized the importance of focusing on cost-of-living issues and the critical decision for voters. He highlighted the contrast between a Labour government seeking national renewal and a Reform movement thriving on discontent, decline, and division.

Expressing concerns about the opposition’s intentions, Starmer pointed out their desire for a diminished state, fostering negativity in communities, and seeking to appease foreign powers. He stressed the significance of tackling this political challenge head-on.

During the initial 2026 Cabinet meeting, Starmer urged his ministers not to waver despite speculation surrounding his leadership ahead of upcoming elections in England, Scotland, and Wales. Acknowledging the challenging national opinion polls, Starmer acknowledged potential difficulties for the Labour party.

The Prime Minister underlined the team’s resilience and determination, emphasizing the need to maintain belief and focus amidst adversity. Starmer reiterated that the government’s primary focus should be on addressing the cost of living and ensuring that families receive adequate support.

In a notable gesture, Lucy Powell, previously dismissed from the Cabinet, attended the political meeting as Deputy Leader, reaffirming her commitment to the party’s values. The discussion centered on domestic issues amid international tensions, with a call for unwavering attention to the cost-of-living crisis.

As global uncertainties persist, the government’s commitment to addressing domestic challenges remains unwavering. Starmer emphasized the importance of prioritizing the well-being of citizens despite external disruptions, reiterating the government’s dedication to improving living standards.
