The Davis Cup final’s second singles match was interrupted when a spectator fell ill in the stands, causing a pause in the game between Flavio Cobolli of Italy and Jaume Munar. Munar had won the first set convincingly and was ahead in the second set before the unexpected incident occurred.

The match came to a halt as medical personnel rushed to assist the spectator, prompting both players to take a break. Commentator Arvind Parmar commended Cobolli for his swift response in noticing the situation and reacting accordingly.

Umpire Marijana Veljovic briefly conversed with the players during the interruption, while Italian captain Filippo Volandri offered advice to Cobolli. The spectator was eventually escorted out of the stands, leading to a temporary delay as safety measures were implemented.

After a roughly ten-minute delay, play resumed with Cobolli managing to break Munar’s serve and equalizing the score in the second set. Italy held a 1-0 lead going into the match, courtesy of Matteo Berrettini’s victory over Pablo Carreno Busta. A win for Cobolli could secure Italy’s third consecutive Davis Cup title, a feat not achieved since 1972 by the USA.

However, a win for Munar would force a decisive doubles round in the final. Both teams were missing key players, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who withdrew before the tournament began.
