Sky has been focusing on its latest streaming devices, Glass and Stream, in recent announcements. This has raised questions among Sky Q box users about whether they are being overlooked. However, Sky has addressed these concerns by introducing a significant boost for Sky Q boxes.

The U app, which offers access to on-demand services like U&Dave, U&DRAMA, U&W, U&YESTERDAY, and U&Eden, initially launched on Sky Glass and Stream. Now, after a long wait, the U app is finally available on Sky Q.

With the U app on Sky Q, users can enjoy on-demand shows such as The Marlow Murder Club, Outrageous, Bergerac, Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, The Chelsea Detective, Ladies in Black, and The Count of Monte Cristo. The app provides search functionality and specific categories to help users discover content tailored to their preferences. Additionally, there is a Watchlists feature for saving shows to watch later.

For those unfamiliar, U is the rebranded name for UKTV, which underwent a major transformation last July to consolidate channels like Dave, Yesterday, and Drama. Sky Q users can now access the U app without the need for any updates or restarts.

Sam Tewungwa, Managing Director of UKTV, expressed enthusiasm for expanding U to more Sky homes, highlighting the service’s growth in views, reach, and content quality. Jon Simkin, Managing Director of Content Partnerships at Sky, emphasized the partnership’s growth with the launch of the U app on Sky Q, providing customers with enhanced TV viewing options.

If you are a Sky Q user, the U app should be readily available for use. Your viewing experience will not require any device updates or restarts.
