Samsung’s security update page, which tracks devices receiving regular security patches, no longer includes the mentioned Galaxy S21 models. Despite the usual practice of providing security updates even after main Android version updates cease, these models have been excluded. Owners of these phones, released in 2021, may want to consider upgrading for enhanced security.
The initial promise by Samsung for the S21 series was four years of Android updates and five years of security updates, which has now expired in 2026. In contrast, newer models like the Galaxy S25 offer extended support with seven years of updates, ensuring longevity of the device.
Notably, the Galaxy S21 FE continues to receive quarterly security updates and is expected to do so for at least another year. For those contemplating an upgrade, Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy S26 series soon, possibly as early as February 25. The upcoming models are rumored to feature improvements in performance, camera quality, design, and battery life.
