A family residing in Squamish, British Columbia, considers themselves fortunate after narrowly avoiding a construction mishap on Hamilton Street’s 1800 block. Claire Johnstone, along with her loved ones, had a close call when a scaffold collapsed near their car on August 11. The incident unfolded as Johnstone was loading her young son into the vehicle outside their hotel.

Initially startled by the loud crash, Johnstone quickly realized the danger as debris struck the car, which had a glass roof. Urging her husband to drive away from the building, Johnstone recounted the tense moments when she feared for their safety. Despite the chaotic situation, everyone in the car, including Johnstone’s mother and partner, managed to stay safe.

After parking the car and assessing the situation, Johnstone observed two injured men trapped in the aftermath of the accident. Promptly alerting passersby to call emergency services, she swiftly left the scene to seek medical attention for her son, Theo.

Upon reaching the hospital, Johnstone was shaken upon reviewing the Tesla footage, seeing how close they came to disaster. Reflecting on the emotional turmoil, she expressed gratitude for their safety but acknowledged the lingering impact of the incident on her well-being.

Johnstone emphasized the importance of cherishing moments with her son, realizing the fragility of life following the harrowing event. Despite the ordeal, she felt grateful for the time spent with her child and the chance to continue making memories with him.
