Police have cordoned off a major city street in Bristol and apprehended a man following a fatal hit-and-run incident involving a car and a cyclist. The authorities are urging witnesses to come forward after a man lost his life on North Street in the Bedminster district. Emergency services responded to the scene, but unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement disclosed that the car involved in the collision fled the scene but was later located by the police. A man in his twenties was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving under the influence.
Multiple emergency vehicles, including fire engines, police cars, and ambulances, were present at the scene, with a helicopter also observed overhead. In a recent statement, the police confirmed that they are investigating the fatal collision that occurred earlier in Bedminster.
A police spokesperson stated, “Following a collision between a cyclist and a car on North Street, Bedminster, tragically, a man lost his life despite efforts made by the public and emergency responders. The next of kin have been informed, and our thoughts are with them during this challenging period. The vehicle involved was located, and a suspect has been arrested.”
