Lando Norris was quick to seek out his stylish girlfriend Margarida Corceiro after securing his position as Formula 1 champion. The British driver was seen sharing kisses and embraces with the Portuguese model amidst the cheering fans before heading to the podium to celebrate his victory over Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Norris merely needed to secure third place at the Yas Marina Circuit to clinch the championship, maintaining his 12-point lead over Verstappen prior to the race. Despite briefly losing second place to his teammate and rival Piastri, Norris managed to secure the necessary podium finish.
In the final laps, Charles Leclerc closed in on Norris, creating some tension, but ultimately, Leclerc’s Ferrari lost pace, allowing Norris to cruise to the finish line and claim the title. Overwhelmed with emotion, Norris expressed his gratitude to his team over the radio, thanking them for making his dreams a reality.
Exiting his car, Norris shared heartfelt moments with his parents and also embraced his girlfriend Corceiro, with whom he had recently rekindled a long-standing relationship. Corceiro, who has been a familiar face in the public eye, has drawn attention to F1 drivers’ partners this season.
Following a comment by Carlos Sainz criticizing the focus on celebrity partners during broadcasts, Corceiro responded, stating she does not seek out the cameras and sometimes remains unaware of being recorded.
Reflecting on his victory, Norris shed tears of joy and expressed his gratitude to his McLaren team, family, and competitors. He acknowledged the challenges posed by Verstappen and Piastri throughout the season but expressed pride in achieving success for the team after nearly a decade with McLaren.
