The Iranian supreme leader has acknowledged the deaths of numerous demonstrators during the recent unrest in the country, prompting Donald Trump to criticize him as “sick.” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered a harsh suppression of protesters rebelling against the oppressive regime in Tehran, stating that thousands were killed, some in a brutal and inhuman manner, and attributing the blame to the US for the casualties.

In response, President Trump condemned the Ayatollah for authorizing the crackdown on demonstrators. Earlier, Trump had commended Iran’s leaders for reportedly halting the executions of hundreds of protesters. The protests initially sparked in Iran due to escalating inflation, later transforming into demands to overthrow the regime established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Amidst the chaos, Iranian authorities are said to have ruthlessly targeted and killed numerous demonstrators. The protesters have been advocating for the end of the authoritarian rule in Tehran, while the supreme leader admitted to the brutal treatment of some protesters.

Calls have emerged from within Iran for Donald Trump to intervene and support the protesters. The US President’s rebuke of the Ayatollah as a “sick man” for the deaths of protesters has fueled tensions further. The ultimate outcomes and consequences of the ongoing protests remain uncertain.
