Iranian state television has made a chilling threat against President Donald Trump, following his remarks urging opponents of the regime to ‘Make Iran Great Again’. A broadcast displayed an image of Trump with a bloodied ear, accompanied by a message stating, “This time, the bullet won’t miss.”
Trump claimed he had reliable information that executions in Iran had ceased, despite top officials in Tehran openly discussing crackdowns on protesters. The president’s vague assertions came after he previously encouraged Iranians to continue protesting against the government, promising that “help is on the way.”
Reports from activists suggest that between 2,500 and 3,000 individuals have died during the recent protests in Iran. Iran’s justice chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, urged swift action to punish over 18,000 detained individuals through rapid trials and executions, emphasizing the need for immediate implementation.
Families have expressed anguish over the swift sentences handed down to their loved ones, including Erfan Soltani, who faced imminent hanging after being charged with “waging war against God” during demonstrations near Tehran.
Amid escalating tensions, Britain has closed its embassy in Iran and recalled nonessential diplomats due to security concerns. The government advised British citizens against traveling to Iran and stated that the embassy would operate remotely during this period.
