Minneapolis experienced further unrest as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot an individual shortly after the tragic killing of Renee Good, a mother of three. The incident occurred during a car chase to apprehend an individual described as an “illegal alien from Venezuela.” According to Homeland Security, the suspect crashed into a vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before being shot in the leg by the federal officer.

Two bystanders from a nearby apartment intervened to assist the suspect, leading to a confrontation where the ICE agent claimed to have been ambushed and attacked. Consequently, one of the individuals was shot in the leg. The injured man was promptly taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the ICE agent received medical treatment for his injuries.

Minneapolis city officials confirmed the shooting incident and reported that the FBI was conducting an investigation. Mayor Jacob Frey criticized the actions of the ICE office, accusing them of instigating chaos in Minnesota. Outraged residents gathered to protest against ICE and its actions in the city and state.

Tensions had escalated following the recent killing of Renee Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross. The Trump administration faced backlash for labeling Good as a “domestic terrorist.” Subsequently, protests erupted, and the White House deployed approximately 3,000 ICE officers to Minneapolis, leading to confrontations with demonstrators.

The grieving city witnessed troubling scenes as federal agents resorted to using tear gas against protesters. Demonstrators were met with force from law enforcement, including the deployment of flash bangs. Despite the escalating tensions, people continued to take to the streets in protest against the actions of ICE agents and police in Minneapolis.
