Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have recently expressed their gratitude to Ferrari engineers and supporters on Instagram. This gesture follows a directive from chairman John Elkann urging them to prioritize their driving over excessive dialogue.
While Ferrari achieved success at the World Endurance Championship in Bahrain, securing both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships, the Brazilian Grand Prix was marred by setbacks. Hamilton’s race was cut short after a collision with Franco Colapinto’s Alpine damaged his car irreparably, leading to his retirement. Leclerc also faced misfortune, exiting the race early due to an incident involving Oscar Piastri and Kimi Antonelli.
The disappointing double non-finish at the Brazilian Grand Prix has positioned Ferrari fourth in the World Championship standings, trailing Mercedes by 26 points and Red Bull by four. Elkann’s response to this setback was notably critical, emphasizing the need for improved performance and less talk from the drivers.
In light of the chairman’s remarks, both Hamilton and Leclerc indirectly addressed the situation on social media. Hamilton’s Instagram post reflected on the race’s outcome with a message of resilience and determination. Leclerc similarly acknowledged the challenges faced in São Paulo and stressed the importance of unity moving forward to improve Ferrari’s standings.
