A former police officer from Surrey, Grant Fulker, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy. The court heard that Fulker enticed the teenager to a hotel room with alcohol and the TV show Love Island. Dismissed from the force in 2024, Fulker was convicted by a jury at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, January 9, for sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.
Before his trial, Fulker, aged 32, admitted to three counts of misconduct in public office, involving inappropriate WhatsApp messages sent to two boys while he was a volunteer police cadet leader for the Met.
According to The Telegraph, on the night of the incidents in February 2024, Fulker bought four bottles of wine and asked a teenager to his hotel room to watch Love Island. The court was informed that intoxicated, Fulker touched the young boy and attempted to touch his genitals over his clothing.
The victim reported the incident to his parents, leading to Fulker’s arrest and subsequent charges in the same month. Commander Pete Stevens condemned Fulker’s actions, describing them as despicable and a betrayal of trust as a cadet leader.
Fulker’s dismissal from the force came swiftly after an accelerated misconduct hearing in March 2024, during which he expressed his intention to plead guilty to misconduct in public office. His actions were found to be gross misconduct, breaching professional conduct standards related to discreditable behavior and authority.
As a result, Fulker was immediately dismissed without notice and added to the College of Policing’s barred list, preventing him from working in law enforcement. Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, February 27.
