Six individuals have lost their lives during the immigration enforcement actions under the Trump administration in the United States. The most recent fatality occurred in Minneapolis when ICE agents shot and killed a 37-year-old intensive care nurse named Alex Pretti.

According to reports, Pretti was shot ten times in just five seconds while protesting the presence of ICE agents in the city. Witnesses mentioned that a bystander performed CPR on Pretti, who sustained at least three gunshot wounds in his back.

In response to claims made by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noemi that the ICE agents fired in self-defense after Pretti’s violent reaction, his parents, Michael and Susan, strongly criticized the administration’s statements. They denounced the accusations as false and accused the ICE agents of unjustly attacking their son.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has urged the Trump administration to remove ICE agents from Minneapolis, condemning their actions as utterly unacceptable. This incident marks the second fatal shooting in January related to immigration enforcement in Minneapolis, following the death of Renee Good, who was shot by an ICE officer.

Footage revealed that Good was shot while allegedly trying to drive away from the ICE officer. Despite the controversial circumstances, Trump administration officials have defended the officer’s actions, claiming he acted in self-defense.

The tragic deaths of Pretti and Good have sparked outrage in Minnesota. The US Justice Department declined to share information about the shootings with state authorities. Additionally, another incident involved the fatal shooting of Silverio Villegas Gonzalez by ICE agents during a traffic stop near Chicago.

The circumstances surrounding these deaths, including the incident involving Jaime Alanis in California and Roberto Carlos Montoya Valdez in southern California, have raised concerns about the methods used by immigration enforcement officers.

Furthermore, Josue Castro Rivera, a Honduran national, lost his life in Norfolk, Virginia, after being struck by a pickup truck while attempting to evade ICE officers during a traffic stop. These tragic events have drawn attention to the contentious nature of immigration enforcement actions in the US.
