As the shift towards electric vehicles gains momentum, many individuals are embracing them for various reasons, whether it be environmental concerns or cost savings. One such person is Peter Greaves, also known as Petrol Ped, who has extensive experience driving both electric and petrol cars.

Over the years, Peter has noticed a significant improvement in the infrastructure supporting electric vehicles since he first drove one six years ago. The availability of public rapid chargers has increased, making it more convenient for EV drivers. However, with the growing number of electric vehicles on the road, challenges such as sharing charging stations have emerged.

The UK government’s commitment to installing 300,000 charging points by 2030 aims to ensure accessibility to public EV chargers for those without home charging capabilities. Despite this progress, public charging usually incurs higher costs compared to home charging.

Peter emphasized the financial aspect of owning an electric vehicle, noting that more affordable options have become available in recent years. He also addressed misconceptions surrounding EV batteries, highlighting their durability and longevity, debunking common myths about high replacement costs.

For prospective buyers interested in second-hand electric vehicles, Peter suggested that there are great deals to be found due to the extended lifespan of EV batteries. He advised buyers to consider the current value in the pre-owned EV market.

The evolving landscape of electric vehicles aligns with Keir Starmer’s reiteration of the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel car sales, reflecting a broader shift towards sustainable transportation solutions.
