A man disguised as a Deliveroo rider, suspected of being a contract killer, has been sentenced to a 38-year jail term for shooting an eight-year-old girl and her father in a horrific incident in Ladbroke Grove, northwest London. Jazz Reid unleashed a barrage of 11 gunshots, injuring the child twice and the man five times while they were in a car with family members. The father sustained multiple injuries, while the girl, who had been celebrating her birthday, was left traumatized by the attack.

The shooting was part of a series of connected incidents involving two firearms, one of which was found hidden under a concrete slab near Reid’s residence after his arrest. During Reid’s trial, it was revealed that he meticulously planned each shooting, going as far as changing his phone and SIM card to evade detection. Reid was found guilty of attempted murder, intentional injury, and various firearm offenses related to the shootings.

The motive behind the attacks remains unclear, with speculations of possible contract killings due to the lack of a personal connection between Reid and the victims. Reid’s modus operandi involved disguising himself as a Deliveroo rider, cycling to the targets’ locations on an e-bike, and executing the shootings with precision.

Following Reid’s sentencing, law enforcement officials commended the community for their assistance in the investigation. Detective Inspector Richard Scott described Reid’s crimes as shocking and premeditated, causing severe harm to innocent individuals. Superintendent Owen Renowden praised the efforts to bring Reid to justice, emphasizing the safer environment achieved by his incarceration.
