Tens of thousands of music enthusiasts gathered at Great Park in Irvine, California, during the weekend to enjoy live performances by their favorite artists. The event, known as Daisy Chain Fields, was organized to support women’s health, reproductive rights, and the fight against gender-based violence.

Daisy Chain Fields, a charity festival initiated by pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo, drew inspiration from the groundbreaking Lilith Fair of the 1990s, featuring an all-female lineup. The festival showcased a mix of established and emerging stars, including Chappell Roan, Doechii, Bikini Kill, and Garbage.

Before the festival commenced, Rodrigo announced that $10 million had been raised for its 10 nonprofit partners, such as Planned Parenthood and the National Institute for Reproductive Health. This amount was later matched by Melinda French Gates, doubling the total to $20 million.

Rodrigo unveiled the festival plans back in June, emphasizing that all proceeds would be donated to organizations supporting women and girls. The event paid tribute to trailblazers like Stevie Nicks and featured surprise appearances by Alanis Morissette and Sarah McLachlan.

The festival, named “Daisy Chain” to symbolize unity and strength, coincided with a critical time for women’s rights, particularly concerning reproductive health. Amid ongoing challenges to reproductive rights in the U.S., the festival aimed to raise awareness and funds for crucial causes.

Benefit concerts have proven to be effective platforms for fundraising in various contexts. Daisy Chain Fields featured performances by a diverse lineup of artists and offered attendees the opportunity to engage with artistic installations and activist displays.

Despite the scorching temperatures, festival attendees, like Chase Martinez, expressed overwhelming positivity and unity at the event. Martinez highlighted the philanthropy village at Daisy Chain Fields, where non-profit representatives educated visitors about their initiatives.

The festival’s impact extended beyond the music, resonating with its non-profit partners and supporters. Organizations like FreeFrom and the Center for Reproductive Rights lauded the event for fostering a sense of community and solidarity amid ongoing challenges to women’s rights.

In conclusion, Daisy Chain Fields served as a powerful platform to advocate for women’s rights and raise substantial funds for critical causes, showcasing the enduring strength and unity of the community.
