Former Wimbledon champion, Boris Becker, faced a tarnished reputation after being sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for concealing £2.5m in assets and loans to avoid repaying debts. Serving eight months at HMP Wandsworth, Becker, 58, was released in December 2022, deported to Germany, and banned from the UK for ten years.
Currently residing in Italy with his partner, Becker is seeking to rebuild his life post his downfall. Having relocated to Milan with his 34-year-old wife, Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro, the couple welcomed their first child, Zoe Vittoria, in November 2025.
Becker, a father of five from four different mothers, expressed how his time in prison strengthened his bond with his daughter Anna, emphasizing their family’s unity and problem-solving mindset. Settling in Milan, Becker shared his reasons for choosing the city and his perspective on potentially coaching tennis star Jannik Sinner.
Despite facing challenges in prison, Becker is working to overturn his 10-year ban from the UK and remains involved in sports coverage, recently joining Eurosport Germany’s team for the Australian Open. Tennis fans can catch the action live from Melbourne on TNT Sports via Prime Video’s TNT Sports channel during the ongoing 2026 Australian Open.
