A popular streaming app that provided free access to a wide variety of content has officially shut down, affecting owners of Fire TV Sticks and other streaming devices. Amazon’s Freevee platform, known for offering ad-supported shows like Jury Duty, Alex Rider, Bosch: Legacy, and Hell’s Kitchen USA, has transitioned its extensive content library to Prime Video starting September 1.
Users previously enjoying Freevee’s free content can now access it on Prime Video by downloading the app and logging in with their Amazon account. The Freevee app will remain accessible until August 2025, allowing customers to continue watching their favorite shows and movies without any additional charges.
Although the transition to Prime Video does not incur extra fees, users may encounter boxsets and movies that require a Prime subscription or one-time payment. This strategic move aims to entice Freevee users to subscribe to Prime Video or rent movies through the platform.
Existing Prime Video account holders will benefit from a consolidated viewing experience within a single app, simplifying access to Amazon’s diverse content offerings.
