Another individual in Minneapolis was shot by an ICE agent, further intensifying the distress in the city. The government swiftly attempted to shift blame onto Joe Biden for the incident. Recent accounts revealed that a man was shot in the leg by an ICE agent in the northern part of Minneapolis, shortly after Renee Good, a mother of three, was tragically shot and killed. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that a man tried to evade a targeted traffic stop, resulting in a car crash followed by fleeing on foot. According to government reports, two individuals allegedly attacked the ICE agent with a snow shovel and a broom handle, leading to the agent shooting the man in the leg out of fear for his safety.

The DHS, under the leadership of Trump ally Kristi Noem, managed to criticize the former President, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, in an effort to shift blame away from the city’s turmoil. In a released statement, the DHS mentioned that a federal law enforcement operation targeting an undocumented individual from Venezuela, released into the country in 2022, led to the shooting.

The mention of Biden’s name in the statement was surprising, and the continued efforts by Trump to point fingers at the former President, who has been out of politics for a year, have been cringe-worthy. Trump’s associates found a way to divert attention from ICE’s actions in Minneapolis by politicizing the situation.

Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey, both Democrats, faced criticism from the Trump administration following the shooting incidents involving federal agents in Minneapolis. The DHS accused the leaders of inciting resistance against ICE and federal law enforcement officers. The statement emphasized the rise in assaults against federal law enforcement officers as they carry out their duties.

Furthermore, US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche labeled the governor and mayor’s leadership as “terrorism,” focusing on the Democrats rather than addressing the actions of ICE agents. Mayor Frey condemned ICE, stating that the agency was causing chaos in Minnesota. The influx of ICE agents into the city, with an additional 3,000 officers sent by the Trump administration, has triggered widespread protests.

Protests erupted in response to the tragic killing of Renee Good, with accusations from Trump and his supporters branding her as a “domestic terrorist.” Bodycam footage released later challenged some of the claims made about the incident. Subsequent protests against the recent shooting saw federal agents using tear gas and pepper balls against locals, reflecting the escalating tension in the city.

The aggressive response to protesters and the attempts to blame Joe Biden demonstrate how Trump and his allies are exploiting a tragic event and ongoing unrest in Minneapolis for political gain.
