The parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti, who was fatally shot by ICE agents, have spoken out for the first time since the incident. Pretti, a 37-year-old American citizen and ICU nurse, was killed by a federal agent despite having a valid license for his firearm. Homeland Security stated that Pretti was armed and allegedly resisted attempts to disarm him, carrying a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and two magazines.

Although the circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed Pretti’s possession of a weapon. Following the tragic event, his parents criticized the Trump administration for spreading false information about their son and urged the media to reveal the truth.

In a statement released via Minnesota DFL, Michael and Susan Pretti expressed their devastation and anger over the tragic loss of their son. They described Alex as a compassionate individual dedicated to making a positive impact through his nursing profession. The family vehemently denied the administration’s claims, asserting that Alex was not holding a gun when confronted by ICE agents.

Pretti worked as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA Center, where he cared for sick veterans. He was troubled by President Trump’s immigration policies in the city and had participated in protests following a previous fatal shooting involving law enforcement officers.

In a recent conversation with his parents, who reside in Wisconsin, Pretti reassured them that he understood the importance of caution during demonstrations. Despite their warnings to avoid engaging in risky behavior, Pretti was committed to peaceful protest and activism.
