A tragic incident unfolded as a 12-year-old girl carried out a heinous murder-suicide plan, shooting her father before taking her own life. Emma Brown shot her father, Daniel Brown, in the stomach at their residence in Poolville, Texas, on September 20, 2022. While her father survived the attack, Emma succumbed to her self-inflicted gunshot wound two days later in the hospital.
Prior to the dreadful act, a disturbing photo surfaced showing Emma and her father with firearms and ammunition on a table. The chilling plan also involved the girl intending to harm her entire family and their pets. Emma had collaborated with another 12-year-old girl from Lufkin, Texas, with whom she had planned to escape to Georgia. The second girl, unnamed, faced charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
Law enforcement responded to the scene following reports of a shooting. They found Emma with a gunshot wound to the head and her father with an abdominal gunshot wound inside their home. Investigations revealed that Emma had meticulously planned the murders, including communication with the Lufkin girl for weeks about their sinister intentions.
After shooting her father, Emma walked a short distance from the house before ending her own life. Emergency responders heard witnesses recounting the tragic event, with the family subsequently reinforcing security measures at their property. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Emma’s cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Despite the loss of Emma, her father survived and was discharged from the hospital with expectations of recovery. The second girl involved in the plot from Lufkin was taken into custody and faced charges related to conspiracy to commit murder.
Jessica Pebsworth, the Director for Lufkin, emphasized the importance of parents being vigilant about their children’s relationships, whether in school, on social media platforms, or gaming communities. She advised parents to monitor their children’s interactions closely to prevent similar incidents.
