An elderly man was apprehended at Tenerife South Airport in the Canary Islands for attempting to board a plane with his deceased wife in a wheelchair. Airport security became suspicious when they observed the woman was unresponsive and had a low body temperature, prompting immediate emergency response measures.
The incident, as reported by Spanish newspaper Diario de Avisos, involved the man pushing his wife in a wheelchair, initially appearing like an ordinary elderly couple. However, security personnel became alarmed upon closer inspection.
Upon checking the woman, it was discovered she had passed away, leading to the activation of emergency protocols and the arrival of various security personnel and forensic experts. The man initially claimed his wife had died at the airport earlier, but some employees alleged he tried to blame the airport for her death, which is now being investigated.
The man was taken into custody at the airport and is cooperating with authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding his wife’s passing. This incident follows the recent death of an elderly woman on an EasyJet flight from Malaga to London, where conflicting reports emerged regarding her health status before boarding.
