A full decade has elapsed since the conviction of Don Collins for murder, a case marked by a disturbing deathbed video where the victim identified him and exposed his brutal motive.
The tragic incident involved Collins and his neighbor, Robbie Middleton, who was celebrating his eighth birthday. Instead of joy, the occasion turned into a nightmare as Collins tied Robbie to a tree, doused him in petrol, and set him on fire.
Despite suffering burns on 99% of his body, Robbie remarkably clung to life for over ten years before succumbing to skin cancer resulting from the severe burns. In 2015, Collins was sentenced to 40 years in prison, a decision that brought some closure for Robbie’s mother, Colleen, who had always sensed something unsettling about the killer.
Reflecting on the events, Colleen described Collins as having a cold and expressionless demeanor, even from a young age. Robbie, the youngest of Colleen and Bobby’s three children, was known for his love of birthdays, including the fateful day in 1998 when he was attacked.
