Thousands of households may qualify for up to £300 in winter energy support. Blackpool Council is dispersing this assistance through its Household Support Fund to eligible households, with varying forms of aid available such as supermarket vouchers and cash grants. Eligible households of one or two people, including children, could receive £200, while households of three or more people could be entitled to £300.

To access this support, individuals must be facing financial difficulties and struggling to meet their expenses. Proof of recent bank statements for all household members is required for application. Eligibility is not dependent on receiving Universal Credit or other benefits, although only one award can be claimed within a 12-month period.

The payment is directly made to the energy provider and will be reflected as a credit on the energy bill or pre-payment meter. Interested individuals can apply through the Blackpool Council website. Residents outside Blackpool are advised to check with their local council for available support through the Household Support Fund.

For instance, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is providing eligible residents with free £120 vouchers. Approximately 10,000 working age households receiving Council Tax Reduction will receive two £60 vouchers in the last two weeks of November. Similarly, around 6,000 pensioner households receiving Council Tax Reduction will receive two £60 vouchers in the first two weeks of January.

Residents with low incomes paying energy bills and not receiving Council Tax Reduction can also receive one-off payments of £120. City of York Council is distributing one-off £100 payments to residents receiving council tax bill assistance. Nearly 5,000 eligible York residents have been notified by the council through letters containing application details.

Portsmouth City Council is allocating £150 to single-person households and £200 to couples or families meeting specific income criteria. To qualify, household income must be below certain thresholds for single adults and couples/families, including single-parent families.
