A school is mourning the loss of a teenage student who tragically passed away on the premises just days into the new term. Emergency services swiftly responded to an incident at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington around 1:30 pm on Tuesday, January 13, following concerns about a man’s well-being. Despite the valiant efforts of school staff and emergency responders, an 18-year-old individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was pronounced deceased at the scene, with no suspicion of foul play.

Authorities from Durham Constabulary stated that they were alerted to the situation at the college and confirmed the unfortunate outcome. The family of the deceased has been notified and is receiving support from specialized personnel. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College released a statement expressing sorrow over the loss of the young member of their community. They extended their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased, offering support services on campus for those affected. In response to the incident, the college announced the suspension of lessons and sports activities on Wednesday, January 14, while assuring that a few scheduled exams would proceed as planned.
