A severe snowstorm led to a massive collision involving over 100 vehicles in the United States, causing chaos on the roads. The incident occurred on Interstate 196 in Michigan on January 19, resulting in the closure of the road just southwest of Grand Rapids.

Despite the significant pileup, fortunately, there were no fatalities reported, although several individuals sustained injuries. One driver, Pedro Mata Jr., described the challenging conditions with visibility reduced by blowing snow, leading to the chain reaction of crashes.

Authorities mobilized more than 30 trucks for the cleanup operation, as multiple cars had slid off the road due to the hazardous weather conditions. Drivers were left stranded, with bus services transporting them to a nearby school for assistance.

The extreme winter weather has prompted weather warnings across the country, affecting states from Minnesota to New York. Forecasters have cautioned about subzero temperatures in certain regions, exacerbating the already treacherous driving conditions.

Towing companies, including Grand Valley Towing, have been working diligently to clear the aftermath of the extensive crash. The road closure is expected to last for several hours as crews work to remove the vehicles and debris, allowing traffic to resume its normal flow.
