In the rise of smart technology, our households are witnessing automated vacuum cleaners, refrigerators capable of suggesting recipes based on their contents, and heating systems that can be activated remotely on your way home.
While these advancements may seem futuristic, for those unfamiliar with Wi-Fi-connected home devices, the idea can be overwhelming.
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into kitchens and living spaces may evoke fear in some, prompting a desire to revert to manual household chores.
Despite not everyone embracing this trend, Samsung persists in advancing its technology at a rapid pace.
The company’s ongoing investment in smart home devices, complemented by its free SmartThings app, aims to facilitate the transition to this technological revolution.
Samsung believes that its smart home solutions will not only simplify daily tasks but also contribute to cost savings on monthly expenses.
Deborah Honig, Chief Customer Officer at Samsung UK & Ireland, explained, “The AI Home is not about constructing a futuristic sci-fi dwelling but about achieving small victories that enhance convenience: lights that automatically switch off, cozy heating upon arrival, or cost-saving appliances working discreetly in the background.”
Customers who have tried these technologies often find the setup process easier than expected, with seamless functionality.
Samsung already offers a diverse range of smart appliances, such as washing machines that adjust water usage based on load size, minimizing energy consumption.
Recently unveiled at the IFA technology show are new devices, including the Bespoke AI Dishwasher, which tailors cleaning cycles to the level of dirtiness on dishes and features an Auto Open Door for quicker drying through steam release.
These AI-driven products aim to reduce costs by leveraging real-time data and can integrate with energy providers like British Gas to operate during off-peak hours.
Honig emphasized, “Our features are designed to adapt to individual lifestyles. For instance, the laundry planner function in our SmartThings app allows automatic scheduling of washing cycles, easing the load for busy parents with school schedules. With rising energy costs in mind, families are increasingly monitoring their expenses.”
“The challenge lies in identifying the major energy consumers at home, which the AI Home addresses. Solutions like SmartThings can optimize energy usage based on real-time patterns, offering insights into monthly consumption and costs. Through our partnership with British Gas, customers receive alerts for energy-efficient appliance usage.”
“These savings are significant, with our washing machines featuring AI Energy Mode reducing energy consumption by up to 70% compared to standard cycles.”
