A male individual has admitted guilt to causing a fatality due to reckless driving after a van veered off the road onto a golf course, striking a 62-year-old woman named Suzanne Cherry at Aston Wood Golf Club in Shenstone. The tragic incident occurred on April 11, leading to Ms. Cherry’s passing four days later at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

According to a report by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), two police cars had initiated pursuit of the van in Kingstanding, Birmingham, following suspicions of illicit behavior. The pursuit ceased when the van left the road, eventually colliding with Ms. Cherry at Aston Wood Golf Club.

In a heartfelt statement, Ms. Cherry’s unnamed husband expressed the devastating loss, highlighting her vibrant personality and impact on those around her. He emphasized her altruism and positive influence on family, friends, and colleagues, underscoring the immense void left by her untimely departure.

Appearing before Worcester Crown Court, John McDonald, aged 51 and residing in Bloxwich, admitted responsibility for Ms. Cherry’s death through dangerous driving. Additionally, McDonald and his co-defendants, Johnny McDonald, 23, of Dudley, and Brett Delaney, 35, of Darlaston, confessed to a conspiracy to commit fraud by making false representations related to roofing work between February 17 and April 12 the previous year.

Although the trio had initially denied manslaughter charges, they have now pleaded guilty. Sentencing for the case is scheduled for later today.
