A tragic incident unfolded on Christmas Day as a two-year-old girl, Isobel Abigail Maxwell, passed away after falling into a pond in the family’s Doncaster home garden. Despite immediate CPR efforts by family members, Isobel was rushed to the hospital but sadly did not survive. The incident was reported to the authorities by the ambulance service, leading to an inquest being opened and adjourned by senior coroner Nicola Mundy.
The inquest revealed that Isobel’s father identified her at the hospital, and plans for her cremation were underway. The full inquest is scheduled for September 14. In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, Isobel’s mother, Tamara Wallace, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received through an online fundraiser to create a memorial fairy garden in Isobel’s memory.
Describing Isobel as a vibrant and spirited child, her family emphasized the light and joy she brought into their lives. The tragic accident occurred during a family gathering, where Isobel, playing with her cousin, wandered off momentarily and fell into the pond, which was not a deliberate feature but a consequence of ongoing home renovations. Isobel’s aunt, Abigail Maxwell, shared the family’s devastation, highlighting the profound impact of losing a beloved child.
