Three individuals have been taken into custody following the discovery of a distressing scene involving 29 deceased dogs piled in a garden and 24 malnourished dogs roaming the property. The arrests of Curtis Dewayne Haralson, Patricia Ann Sims, and Tiffany Ann Sims came after concerned neighbors alerted the police about the situation.
Upon investigation, authorities found the deceased dogs, ranging from puppies to adults, in plastic bags in the backyard. Additionally, 24 emaciated dogs were found inside the residence. While no charges have been pressed yet, the sheriff’s office hinted at potential felony charges for all three suspects.
In a separate incident in Alabama, Marchelle Pertilla and Eugene Medrano face charges of child abuse and multiple counts of dog cruelty after their 14-year-old daughter was discovered living in squalor with several dogs, one of which was deceased. The living conditions were described as unsanitary and hazardous, with the trailer covered in filth and a dead dog found in a wardrobe.
The couple allegedly left their daughter alone, claiming she did not want to leave her service animals. Investigations revealed the dire living conditions, prompting the arrests. Sheriff Paul Burch expressed the need to uncover more details surrounding the case and determine if others had attempted to notify law enforcement about the situation.
