To address this issue, local women from a nearby village have come up with a unique solution. These elephants are under the care of the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Center, having been rescued from situations of illegal captivity and exploitation. Kartick Satyanarayan, co-founder and CEO of Wildlife SOS, emphasized the importance of protecting these animals from the harsh winter conditions due to their vulnerabilities from past mistreatment, which can lead to health issues like pneumonia and worsen existing conditions such as arthritis.
Geeta Seshamani, secretary and co-founder of Wildlife SOS, highlighted the organization’s mission to offer a safe environment where rescued elephants can live comfortably and freely.
