The US state of Oregon recently felt the effects of a magnitude 6 earthquake, according to official reports. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) disclosed that the earthquake occurred at 7:25 pm local time on Thursday, January 15, approximately 183 miles from Bandon, Oregon.
Although residents along the Oregon coastline reported experiencing tremors, there have been no significant reports of structural damage. The earthquake’s epicenter was identified to be 295 km west of Bandon, Oregon, with a depth of around 10 km beneath the earth’s surface, as indicated by the USGS.
As of now, the USGS has not issued a tsunami warning. However, they have advised that there is a possibility of aftershocks being felt in the region over the next week.
Following the earthquake confirmation, individuals residing in Oregon have been sharing their experiences on social media. Some, like a user situated at the base of the Cascades, where Kings County merges with the Mount Rainier National Park, did not sense any shaking. Conversely, others from Newberg and Eugene in Oregon reported feeling the tremors.
