Donald Trump has decided to cancel his meetings with Iranian officials today and has assured protesters that assistance is on the way. The US president did not provide specifics about the nature of the aid, but this announcement follows his earlier statement indicating that Iran expressed a willingness to negotiate with the US after his warning of potential action against the Islamic Republic, which has reportedly resulted in over 2,000 deaths according to human rights organizations. Trump, aged 79, took to social media in the morning, encouraging demonstrators to persist in their protests while cautioning “killers and abusers” that they will face severe consequences.

In a tweet, Trump addressed “Iranian Patriots,” urging them to continue protesting and take control of their institutions, vowing repercussions for those responsible for violence. He declared that all planned meetings with Iranian Officials are canceled until the unjust killing of protesters ceases, emphasizing that help is en route.

The US president has consistently threatened Tehran with military intervention if his administration determines that the Islamic Republic is using lethal force against anti-government demonstrators. Trump recently remarked to the press that he believes Iran is approaching a threshold and that his national security team is evaluating potent responses, despite receiving outreach attempts from Iran.

Although the White House spokesperson suggested the possibility of a diplomatic resolution on Monday, Trump remains willing to explore military options if deemed necessary. Additionally, he announced the immediate imposition of 25% tariffs on countries engaged in commerce with Tehran, without elaborating on the specifics of this measure. Notably, countries like China, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Brazil, and Russia conduct business with Iran.

Amid escalating protests in Iran with potential for violence, American citizens have been advised to depart the country promptly. The US Virtual Embassy for Iran cautioned about the likelihood of unrest, arrests, and injuries, as security measures intensify, leading to transportation disruptions and internet censorship. The advisory emphasizes the importance of leaving Iran promptly without relying on US government assistance, suggesting preparedness with essential supplies, avoiding demonstrations, maintaining a low profile, and staying informed through local media updates.
