Bulgaria has been identified as the top choice for an affordable summer vacation this year, recommended for families seeking a budget-friendly getaway. According to TravelSupermarket, Bulgaria is the most cost-effective country for all-inclusive sunshine holidays in 2026, with an average price of £760 per person for a week-long trip. Following Bulgaria, Morocco and Malta secured the second and third spots, with average costs of £852 and £862 per person, respectively.
Data analysis of family holiday searches conducted between October 5 last year and the present for travel between May and September 2026 revealed significant price variations across popular destinations. Bulgaria experienced a price drop of £54 per person, marking a 7% decrease since the previous summer, making it the most affordable option in the selection. Conversely, Cyprus emerged as the most expensive destination at £1,186 per person.
Spain, a perennial favorite among Brits, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, stood fourth on the list with an average cost of £888 per person, maintaining prices from the previous year. Turkey and Greece ranked 11th and 12th, with average costs of £1,057 and £1,096 per person, respectively. Croatia, positioned as the 10th cheapest destination this summer, experienced a 12% price reduction compared to the previous year, offering an average cost of £1,046 per person.
For long-haul travels, TravelSupermarket highlighted Cape Verde as the most cost-effective option at £1,247 per person, followed by the United Arab Emirates, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico, with average prices of £1,297, £1,664, and £1,694 per person, respectively.
Chris Webber, the head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, expressed optimism about Bulgaria’s resurgence as a leading affordable all-inclusive destination. He also noted the continued affordability of Tunisia and Morocco, with Croatia’s significant price decrease being particularly beneficial for families previously deterred by higher costs.
