Double Cold Weather Payments have been distributed to certain households this week following snowfall in various parts of the UK. Cold Weather Payments, valued at £25 each, are granted when the temperature in your area drops to zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. In cases of prolonged cold spells, multiple payments may be received.

A total of 18 postcode areas have met the criteria for two Cold Weather Payments, totaling £50, as they were triggered on December 30 and January 6. The list of qualifying postcode areas has been released.

To receive a Cold Weather Payment, individuals must be recipients of specific benefits or mortgage support. Payments are typically deposited into the recipient’s bank account within 14 working days. However, separate application is required for households with infants or children under five moving in.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) administers Cold Weather Payments, with the scheme scheduled to continue until March 31, 2026. Notably, Scotland has substituted Cold Weather Payments with the Winter Heating Payment, valued at £59.75.
