British boxer Anthony Joshua recently paid his respects to his late friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, at a funeral home after being released from the hospital. Joshua sustained minor injuries in a car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which tragically claimed the lives of his close companions.

Having been discharged from the hospital in Lagos, the 36-year-old athlete will now focus on his recovery at his home in Nigeria. Prior to that, Joshua accompanied his mother to the funeral home to bid farewell to Ghami and Ayodele.

A statement from the local authorities expressed condolences to the families of the deceased individuals and highlighted the sorrowful loss. Joshua, though grieving the loss of his friends, has been deemed fit to continue his recuperation at home.

The Governors of Ogun State and Lagos State, Dapo Abiodun and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, respectively, appreciated the outpouring of support and sympathy from the public following the unfortunate incident. They also acknowledged the medical team at Lagoon Hospital Ikoyi for their exceptional care of Joshua and others injured in the accident.

The fatal crash occurred when Joshua’s black SUV collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the fatalities of his friends. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities searching for the truck driver who illegally parked on the highway shoulder, leading to the tragic accident.

Following his discharge from the hospital, the SUV driver provided a statement to the police. According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, a spokesperson for Ogun State’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, overspeeding and a burst tire on the SUV’s front passenger side were contributing factors to the collision with the stationary truck.

The incident has sparked a wave of condolences and support for Joshua, with authorities and the public extending their sympathies and assistance during this difficult time.
