Shoppers witnessed a tense situation as armed police officers entered a Tesco store in response to reports of a person carrying a weapon. The incident occurred at a Tesco Extra in the Corstorphine area of Edinburgh on Friday night, prompting a significant police presence.
Numerous officers, including members of a police armed response unit dressed in black, were seen at the scene alongside several police vehicles stationed outside the superstore. Authorities were alerted to the situation just after 4 pm when concerns were raised about a woman reportedly armed at the store on Meadow Place Road.
Following the incident, a 20-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with the episode. Police in Scotland clarified that armed response officers were dispatched as a precautionary measure. The woman has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
