A 69-year-old woman, Shirley Pasamanick, found herself in a harrowing situation while walking her 14-year-old dog, Sparky, in Orlando, Florida, on September 1. The peaceful stroll turned chaotic when a pitbull suddenly attacked them near Plaza Tropical Supermarket. In a brave attempt to protect her beloved pet, Shirley was pulled to the ground as she struggled to restrain the aggressive dog.
Frantically seeking help, Shirley tried to intervene in the violent altercation between the dogs. Despite her efforts to pry the pitbull off Sparky, she resorted to using her cane as a weapon and even resorted to biting the attacking animal when all else failed. The traumatic incident left her shaking for days, recounting how she had to resort to desperate measures to defend her dog.
The distressing situation only came to an end when the pitbull’s owner finally intervened, showing a lack of concern for Shirley and her injured pet. Both Shirley and Sparky sustained bites and bruises from the ordeal, with Shirley expressing disappointment that bystanders failed to assist during the frightening encounter.
Sharing her ordeal on Facebook, Shirley emphasized the need for awareness about such unexpected attacks, urging people to remain vigilant. She also called for the pitbull responsible to be euthanized, emphasizing the lasting impact the incident had on her. Despite the traumatic experience, Shirley expressed gratitude that her dog survived the ordeal, especially considering Sparky’s advanced age of 14.
Shirley’s bravery and quick thinking in the face of danger highlight the unpredictable nature of dog attacks and the importance of being prepared to protect oneself and pets in such situations.
