A decade-long fan favorite, Matthew Perry’s portrayal of Chandler Bing in the TV show “Friends” captivated audiences. However, revelations of his ketamine addiction posthumously in 2023 challenged viewers’ perception of the beloved character.

Netflix is set to release a three-part docuseries titled “The One About Matthew Perry,” offering a comprehensive look at the Canadian actor’s life. The series will explore Perry’s journey from a rising comedic talent to his iconic role on the hit NBC show. It will feature never-before-heard accounts from close associates, including his sister Mia Perry Bowick, a grief specialist who has openly shared her emotional journey following Perry’s passing.

Bowick expressed her readiness to share memories of loving Matthew in his entirety, beyond his on-screen persona as Chandler, acknowledging his struggles with addiction. Perry tragically passed away at 54 due to a ketamine overdose in his backyard hot tub. Several individuals faced legal consequences for supplying him with the drug, with Dr. Salvador Plasencia appealing his 30-month prison sentence for selling ketamine to Perry.

The upcoming docuseries on Netflix promises to delve into Perry’s private battles, honoring his legacy of honesty and advocacy. Scheduled for release on October 27, the series aims to provide a deeper understanding of the complexities of Matthew Perry’s life.
