Summer McIntosh claimed her first-ever victory at the Pan Pacific swimming competition by securing a gold medal in the women’s 400-meter individual medley in Irvine, California. She outpaced Australia’s Jenna Forrester in championship record time, completing the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle in 4 minutes and 28.01 seconds. Forrester settled for silver, finishing nearly three seconds behind McIntosh, while Agostina Hein from Argentina clinched the bronze.

McIntosh expressed satisfaction with her performance but acknowledged room for improvement, stating that she believed she could have achieved more in the race. She highlighted the importance of analyzing her race splits to identify areas for enhancement.

Following her victory, McIntosh interacted with a group of enthusiastic youths in the audience, emphasizing the joy of entertaining and inspiring others through her performances. Additionally, she contributed to Canada’s success in the women’s 4×200 freestyle relay, helping secure a bronze medal alongside her teammates.

In other events, Tristan Jankovics and Lorne Wigginton represented Canada in the men’s 400 IM, finishing in the seventh and eighth positions, respectively. Taylor Ruck delivered a fifth-place finish in the women’s 100 freestyle.
