Looking for a bargain on seasonal flowers, wanting to support local farmers, or seeking a fun summer activity? With over 200 flower farms in Canada, it’s now easier than ever to locate one near you

Despite many farms remaining closed to the public, the popularity of pick-your-own spots and farm events has surged since the pandemic, partly due to social media, offering more than just tours and markets. You can now enjoy activities like botanical-dyeing workshops and picnics amidst the vibrant blooms.

Ensure you plan your visit in advance as many smaller farms operate by appointment only, and some activities require tickets. It’s crucial to time your visit right as the availability of blooms varies. Checking online or contacting the farm beforehand is advisable to know what’s currently in bloom.

Here are 13 breathtaking flower farms you should explore this summer.

Bilston Creek Farm

Victoria

This farm on Vancouver Island hosts various seasonal events, such as the Lavender Festival from June to mid-August. Expect live music, workshops, a makers’ market, an orchard, an apiary, and the option for overnight stays.

Five Acres Flower Farm

Abbotsford, B.C.

Located an hour’s drive from downtown Vancouver, this charming farm offers flower-picking workshops, concerts, and wreath-making classes from August to October. Visit in late August or September for the best views of their dahlias in full bloom.

Blooms on 7 Flower Farm

Sherwood Park, Alta.

Just a 30-minute drive east of Edmonton, this flower and alpaca farm boasts over 150 bloom varieties, sold by the cup. Additionally, they offer botanical-dyeing workshops and pilates classes next to their alpaca herd.

Fern’s Flowers Garden

Edmonton

Fern’s Flowers Garden’s U-pick offers zinnias, marigolds, gladioli, and more. Situated on the North Saskatchewan River, the farm, shared with a nonprofit community garden, is surrounded by an old-growth forest and scenic trails.
