BT has introduced a new method for internet access that not only connects devices to the web but also enhances security features. The company’s latest offering, the Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router, is set to be available in UK households soon, providing improved connectivity and advanced security measures.

The Smart Hub 3 includes technology that can automatically detect harmful websites, giving users a warning before potential malware or other online threats can cause any damage. Additionally, it has the capability to identify and block any suspicious activities by hackers trying to access smart home devices like internet-connected cameras.

Users will have the ability to monitor any security threats detected through the Hub Threat Protect feature in the MyBT app, empowering households to enhance their online security and proactively guard against cyberattacks.

In addition to security enhancements, the Smart Hub 3 focuses on performance by supporting Complete Wi-Fi Plus, which helps extend signal coverage throughout the home and eliminate weak spots in signal reception areas.

While the router supports Wi-Fi 6 rather than the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard found in some competitor devices, Wi-Fi 6 remains highly capable for most households and is a significant improvement from older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 technology. Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and enhanced reliability, making it ideal for activities like gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home setups.

BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to new customers, and some existing users may also be eligible for an upgrade to this advanced router. Wi-Fi 6 enhances wireless performance by boosting speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to previous standards, while Wi-Fi 7 further elevates these aspects with wider channels, reduced latency, and higher speeds, catering to the needs of gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home configurations.

For most current users, Wi-Fi 6 remains a solid choice, while Wi-Fi 7 presents a more forward-looking solution for future-proofing connectivity needs.
