An exotic dancer was taken into custody for allegedly beheading her boyfriend just two months into their relationship.
Enrique Gonzalez-Carbajal, aged 55, was discovered decapitated in the residence of his girlfriend, Alyssa Marie Lira, in Anaheim, California, on August 25. Lira, who is 23 years old, was swiftly identified as the prime suspect but managed to evade capture by fleeing to Mexico.
Law enforcement officials disclosed that Lira, who was employed as a stripper at the time of the incident, has been extradited from Mexico to face a charge of murder, with an additional felony for weapon use.
The couple met while Lira was performing as an exotic dancer at a local strip club in California, as per the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Their romantic involvement ended tragically with Enrique’s untimely death just two months later.
After a joint effort involving the FBI and Mexican authorities, Lira was apprehended on January 22. She was handed over to authorities in Orange County the following day at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
The precise location in Mexico where the suspect was found remains undisclosed. Prosecutors have not revealed a motive for the fatal attack. If convicted, Lira could potentially face a prison sentence of up to 26 years.
The suspect is set to be formally charged on February 13 and is currently being held without bail at the Orange County Jail. The arraignment will take place at the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
In a statement, District Attorney Todd Spitzer emphasized the relentless pursuit of justice by law enforcement agencies, highlighting the collaborative efforts to capture and bring back the alleged killer to face justice.
In a separate incident, a father was arrested for allegedly murdering his four children and concealing their bodies in his car while continuing with his social activities.
Wellington Delano Dickens III, aged 38, was charged with four counts of first-degree murder on October 28. According to reports, Dickens contacted the police and indicated that he did not physically harm his children but admitted to disciplining them excessively.
Authorities responded to his residence in North Carolina, where the bodies of the four children were found in the vehicle. Additionally, Dickens was accused of inviting individuals he met on a dating app to his home following the tragic events.
