Mark Allen gracefully accepted defeat after narrowly missing out on the Home Nations Series bonus to Jack Lisowski. Allen humorously mentioned that he “cried himself to sleep” when the £150,000 prize slipped through his fingers.

Lisowski staged a remarkable comeback, highlighted by a superb break of 78 in the final frame of his semi-final against John Higgins, securing his place in the final and clinching the substantial cash reward.

Initially leading the rankings throughout the Home Nations campaign, Allen was in a prime position to claim the prize but faltered in the Welsh Open, allowing his competitors to seize the opportunity. Despite winning the English Open in September and reaching successive semi-finals in the Northern Ireland and Scottish Opens, Allen suffered an early exit in Wales at the hands of David Grace.

With only four players in contention to snatch the jackpot from Allen, Lisowski capitalized on the opportunity presented to him. While Allen graciously congratulated him, it was evident that losing out on the bonus was a bitter pill to swallow for the snooker player.

In a social media post, Allen praised Lisowski’s performance, acknowledging his own recurring second-place finishes over the years. Lisowski’s victory over Higgins, after trailing 3-1 and then rallying to a 5-4 lead, showcased his composure under pressure and determination to secure the win and the cash prize.

Reflecting on his winning break, Lisowski emphasized his focus on potting balls continuously until he heard applause from the audience. Despite facing challenging shots, he expressed satisfaction with his performance and ability to deliver in crucial moments.

Looking ahead to the final against Barry Hawkins, Lisowski highlighted the need to maintain momentum and focus, emphasizing the competitive nature of the sport for all players.
