Lindsey Vonn has openly discussed the challenging road to recovery after her harrowing experience at the Winter Olympics. Despite suffering an ACL injury just days before, Vonn remarkably managed to compete in the downhill skiing event in Italy but encountered a severe fall that led to her being airlifted to the hospital.

Following multiple surgeries and a battle with compartment syndrome and a broken ankle, Vonn narrowly escaped the possibility of leg amputation thanks to Dr. Tom Hackett’s intervention. The 41-year-old athlete now faces a significant physical and mental rehabilitation journey ahead.

Expressing her struggles, Vonn shared on social media that while the physical battle started immediately after the injury, the mental battle has just begun. She acknowledged the tough road ahead but emphasized that each injury has made her stronger and more resilient.

Back in the United States after an extended hospital stay due to complications, Vonn mentioned dealing with low haemoglobin levels from blood loss, necessitating a blood transfusion. Currently wheelchair-bound due to a broken ankle, she remains optimistic about the rehabilitation process and is taking it step by step.
