Ronnie O’Sullivan is set to pursue further achievements this year by aiming to secure two world titles at the Crucible within a month, following his registration for the World Seniors Snooker Championship.

At 50 years old, O’Sullivan continues to be a formidable force on the snooker circuit. He will face competition from players now active in the senior ranks. In the upcoming spring season, the Rocket will strive to claim the championship for an unprecedented eighth time as he competes in his 34th consecutive World Championship.

Remaining in Yorkshire, O’Sullivan will make his debut in the senior tournament scheduled to commence on May 6 and conclude over a five-day period.

The World Seniors Snooker Tour has officially announced O’Sullivan’s participation, emphasizing his status as one of the sport’s most commercially successful and captivating figures. He is set to lead an exceptionally strong field assembled for the World Seniors event.

Joining O’Sullivan at the championship will be fellow world champions Mark Williams, Stuart Bingham, and Ken Doherty, among others like Jimmy White, Matthew Stevens, and Tony Drago.

Jason Francis, the Chairman, expressed excitement about O’Sullivan’s debut in the senior circuit at the Crucible in May, noting the increased ticket sales driven by O’Sullivan’s involvement.

Following the 2025 World Championship, the World Snooker Tour revised rules to allow professional players aged 45 or older and ranked in the top 64 to compete in veterans’ tournaments.

With seven world titles to his name, O’Sullivan’s most recent victory in 2022 tied him with Stephen Hendry’s record. Despite his semifinal exit last year, O’Sullivan has consistently performed well in recent World Championships.

Hendry has stated his admiration for O’Sullivan’s achievements and indicated his willingness to see O’Sullivan secure an eighth world title, highlighting the significance of winning the championship at a young age.

In a recent interview on the World Snooker Tour podcast, Hendry expressed his pride in his own records and his preference for O’Sullivan to clinch an eighth title, acknowledging the exceptional talent required to achieve such success.
